Transfer to airport. Domestic flight to Cusco. Meet guide and brief intro to Cusco on route to hotel. Afternoon guided tour to Cerro Pukamoqo (Red Peak), Fortress of Sacsayhuaman, market of San Pedro, Korikancha (Golden Temple), Incan temple and Cathedral.
Scenic drive to Sacred Valley. On route stop at Incan temple and Cathedral and learn about llamas, Alpacas and Vicunas, their wool and the traditional textile art. Explore Pisac, with Incan and Colonial influences, artisan markets. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. Visit Ollantaytambo one of the last remaining Incan towns.
Transfer from hotel to Machu Picchu railroad marker 82km. Begin the trek to Machu Picchu (accompanied by porters). Hike thru the Urubamba valley to the ruins of Llactapata. Then follow the Kusichaca river to Huayllabamba, 3000 meters (9842 feet) above sea level. Camp at Huayllabamba. Distance travelled 11 kilometers (7 miles) in 6 hours.
Five hour hike to Warmiwaynusca (Dead Woman) pass, at 4200 meters (13780 feet) above sea level. At summit breathtaking views of snow-capped mountains. Continue to Pacaymayo, 3600 meters (11 811 feet) above sea level, at the end of the pass. Camp at Pacaymayo. Distance travelled 7 kilometers (4.5 miles) in 7 hours.
